Monnie Goodman is contemporary folk artist. A self-taught artist, her works reflect a primitive style. The naive quality of her technique is most evident in the lack of perspective and absence of shading in her paintings. Yet, her instinctive use of color and compositional arrangements create paintings which are visually alive. While the traditional folk painter often chooses to paint familiar subject matter, she enjoys painting imaginative themes as well.

Monnie’s works have been exhibited at the Regional Hospice Annual Art Show, the Richter Park Juried Art Show, the Mumford Gallery, the Somerstown Gallery, and at the Aldrich Museum as part of a fundraising event. In addition, her paintings have been auctioned at Women’s Center charity events and fundraising events for the Housatonic Art League. At Vanderbilt University, her work is documented as part of a special collection of American self-taught artists.

Monnie has two sons and two Border Collies and is a Ridgefield resident. During working hours, you can find her at her desk at Ridgefield Bank.
